Former president Barack Obama has shared his annual summer playlist, which he revealed on social media along with the caption: “With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!”

Along with his summer playlist, Obama also shared his favorite books for the season. For his reading selections, Obama highlighted a range of works, from satirical fiction to hard-hitting nonfiction, sharing in the social media post:  “I’ve read some great books over the last few months and wanted to share some of my favorites. Let me know if you have any recommendations for books I should check out!  Among the 14 literary picks were Percival Everett’s “James,” a reimagining of Mark Twain’s classic “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” as well as “Everyone Who is Gone Here: The United States, Central America, and the Making of a Crisis” by Jonathan Blitzer, which takes a comprehensive look at the illegal immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Per Variety, among those making the cut on Obama’s playlist were Charli XCX (“365”), country breakout star Shaboozey (“A Bar Song (Tipsy)”), Billie Eilish (“Chihiro”) and hip-hop singer Tommy Richman (“Million Dollar Baby”).   Additional tracks include H.E.R.’s “Process”, Tems’ “Love Me Jeje”, Sting’s “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free”, The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction”, Saweetie’s “My Best”, Common’s “The People”, GloRilla & Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be”, Rema’s “Yayo”, Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”, Willow’s “Symptom of Life”, Moneybagg Yo & Morgan Wallen’s “Whiskey Whiskey” and more.
